Recently, Katy Perry created an internet sensation with her post about her Kitty Purry. A number of guys jumped to the wrong conclusion about what her post was about. The picture of her cat sleeping in a shark bed is cute, and there is no doubt that Ms Perry takes detailed care of her Kitty Purry.
Katy Perry is a pop star, a young one at that—26. Her background would not suggest a pop star foundation. She was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984 to Mary and Keith Hudson in Santa Barbara, California. Her parents are Christian pastors, and Katy was raised in a very strict environment.
Her flamboyant style and song lyrics have raised eyebrows and criticism from various circles. There is some controversy about how her parents feel about their daughter’s current lifestyle.
To all appearances Ms Perry has turned her back on her childhood and abandoned her fundamental Christian heritage to pursue her own dreams. This is not atypical of children raised in very conservative homes. Her success in such a short time is owed to excellent promotion, product placement and talent.
Let there be no doubt—Katy Perry is her best advertisement. She has achieved the American dream without the benefit of education. She took her GED in ninth grade and is living life to the hilt with legions of fans and sales.
Many young girls idolize her. Many teenage males droll over her videos and provocative images. Can she sing? Definitely.
Question: is she a role model for young girls in 2011? If your daughter came to you and wanted to drop out of high school what would your reaction be? Would she have the same chance at the American dream as Katy Perry?
For every Katy there are thousands who did what she did and failed miserably. Without a proper, solid education in math, English, science, social studies and languages, most people will survive poorly on this planet traversing the cosmos.

Ivanka Marie Trump was born October 30, 1981. She is the daughter of Ivana and Donald Trump.
From all appearances it appeared that Ms Trump was destined for a career as a model. Then she went to university—Georgetown University. Transferring to Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania, she graduated in 2004 summa cum laude in Economics.
Before joining her father’s business she worked at other business ventures. The key word here is that she worked. Based on all reports, she has worked hard most of her life since she was a teenager.
Currently, she is the Executive Vice-President for Development and Acquisitions. Contrary to popular myth, Ms Trump did not acquire her position because of her name and birthright. She gained her position by her work ethic, education, intelligence and drive.
Is she a role model for young girls? Definitely!
When you assess this situation, education is an essential component for most success on this earth. Study after study indicates that education is the foundation of real success in this world.
Is education tough? Definitely! Is it worth every sleepless night and cost? Most assuredly.
It is easy to look at the stars on the screens and believe you could be one of them. To be honest you might be right, but are you willing to take the chance with your child or with yourself?
The entertainment moguls know that image is everything. This is why so much time and money are placed polishing their young singers to sell them to the hungering youngsters who folk over countless millions each year to listen, to watch their idols and buy the latest release.
Make no mistake. It is business, American business at its best.
However, every singer or film star will tell after age has set in that opportunities and product placement become dry. The vocal chords and the looks fade over time, but the promoters always have another youngster in the wings to begin the sale over again.
Parents, make sure your children obtain a proper education. They will be better off on this earth in years to come. Perhaps, they will be thankful for your determination farther down the long, dusty road of life.
There are too many people with broken dreams on this orb. Help your son or daughter avoid the pitfalls of the dazzling sale pitch of the P. T. Barnums of today and save their money for the future.
A download, CD, DVD, etc may seem like a small sum, but if that small sum was saved and invested, then it would be a good start on the road to financial security. Think about it.
