Good Night and Good Luck, Keith Olbermann

On his show Friday night, Keith Olbermann announced this was the last Countdown.  After a closed door settlement this week, Olbermann, MSNBC’s highest rated newscaster, is leaving.  This is the same day that COMCAST took over NBC.  Coincidence?

The Huffington Post has the announcement with the clip from Countdown:

“There were many occasions, particularly in the last two-and-a-half years, where all that surrounded the show–but never the show itself–was just too much for me. But your support and loyalty and, if I may use the word, insistence, ultimately required me to keep going. My gratitude to you is boundless and if you think I’ve done any good here, imagine how it looked from this end…this may be the only television program wherein the host was much more in awe of the audience than vice versa.” Keith Olbermann

Keith Olbermann: Love him, hate him or ignore him, but he may be down for the count.  He is definitely not out of the match.  MSNBC’s loss will be felt in the pocketbook when viewers decline and advertisers demand lower rates.

What of Keith Olbermann? His golden voice of oratory will not be silenced for long.

The connected world has not seen the last of him.  This hiatus will be temporary.

So it is on this planet traversing the cosmos on this 22nd day of January.
