Wassail: A Different Taste

Looking for a non-alcoholic warm drink for the holidays?  This is from an old family recipe that I have in my own notebook of recipes which I have collected over the decades.

6 cups of apple cider

2 cups of Cranberry juice cocktail

¼ cup sugar

16 whole cloves

1 teaspoon all spice

6 inch cinnamon stick (1)

Pour juices into a large saucepan and add the sugar.

Place cloves, allspice and cinnamon stick in cheese cloth and tie top.  Put into sauce pan with juice and simmer for one hour.  Remove cheesecloth when done.

Serve in your fine China cups or Christmas ware.

Enjoy!  Have a safe and joyful  holiday season. Good health!

PS: What goes with this cup of wassail is a nice scone.  Pick a variety which suits your palate.
